Spicy Crushed Salad (Acılı Ezme)
A quick and easy spicy crushed salad, perfect as a dip with bread or a side dish for meat, chicken, or meatballs.
Ingredients
- tomatoes
- green peppers
- red bell pepper (kapya)
- onion
- garlic
- tomato paste
- pepper paste
- parsley
- olive oil
- pomegranate molasses
- salt
- red pepper flakes (pul biber)
- Isot pepper
- sumac
- dried mint
- lemon
Method

Roughly chop the tomatoes, green peppers, red bell pepper, and onion.

Place the chopped tomatoes, green peppers, red bell pepper, onion, and garlic cloves into a food processor.

Pulse the vegetables in the food processor until they are finely chopped but still have some texture.

To prevent the ezme from being too watery, pour the chopped vegetable mixture into a fine-mesh sieve set over a bowl. Let it drain for a few minutes to remove excess liquid.

In a separate large bowl, prepare the dressing. Add the tomato paste and pepper paste.

Pour in the olive oil and pomegranate molasses.

Add the spices: salt, red pepper flakes, Isot pepper, sumac, and dried mint.

Add the finely chopped parsley.

Squeeze the juice of one lemon into the bowl.

Whisk all the dressing ingredients together until well combined.

Add the drained vegetable mixture to the bowl with the dressing.

Mix everything together thoroughly until the vegetables are fully coated in the dressing.

Transfer the acılı ezme to a serving platter, spread it out, and garnish with a little more fresh parsley if desired.
