Honey-Baked Ham
This honeybaked ham takes barely any time to make, so if you re in a rush, this recipe is for you! I made it for Friendsgiving super quickly after I got off of work, & it was a crowd pleaser!!
Ingredients
- spiral ham
- orange juice
- butter
- hot honey
- granulated sugar
- dark brown sugar
- Lawry's seasoned salt
- onion powder
- ground cinnamon
- ground nutmeg
- ground cloves
- ground ginger
- sweet paprika
- allspice
- apple cider vinegar
- Dijon mustard
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 275 F (135 C).
- 2
Unpack the spiral-sliced ham, discarding the included glaze packet. Place the ham flat-side down on a roasting rack set inside a roasting pan.
- 3
Pour 1 cup of orange juice into the bottom of the roasting pan.
- 4
In a small bowl, melt 4 tablespoons of butter. Mix in 4 tablespoons of hot honey. Brush this mixture all over the ham, making sure to get it in between the slices.
- 5
Cover the ham loosely with aluminum foil. Bake at 275 F for 10-12 minutes per pound of ham. (For an 11 lb ham, this is approximately 90 minutes).
- 6
While the ham bakes, prepare the sugar crust. In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, dark brown sugar, seasoned salt, onion powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, sweet paprika, and allspice. Mix until well combined.
- 7
Once the initial baking time is complete, remove the ham from the oven and set the oven to broil on high.
- 8
Reserve 3 tablespoons of the ham drippings from the bottom of the pan and set aside for the glaze.
- 9
Pat half of the sugar and spice mixture all over the surface of the ham, working it into the crevices.
- 10
Place the ham back in the oven, uncovered, and broil on high for 5 minutes, or until the sugar crust is bubbly and crispy. Keep a close watch to prevent burning.
- 11
While the ham is broiling, prepare the final glaze. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine the reserved 3 tablespoons of ham drippings, the remaining half of the sugar mixture, the apple cider vinegar, and the Dijon mustard.
- 12
Bring the glaze to a boil, stirring constantly. Once boiling, immediately remove it from the heat.
- 13
Remove the ham from the oven after the first broil. Drizzle the hot glaze all over the ham.
- 14
Return the glazed ham to the oven and broil on high for a final 2-3 minutes until the glaze is caramelized.
- 15
Let the ham rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
