Sesame Chicken
This recipe shows you how to make sesame chicken.
Ingredients
- 1 pound chicken thighs
- 2 count eggs
- 1 pinch salt
- 0.5 cup cornstarch
- null count cooking oil for frying
- 0.25 cup ketchup
- 0.25 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 0.25 cup honey
- 2 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 3 count garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 pinch sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon spring onions, chopped
- 2 cups cooked rice for serving
Method
- 1
Slice the chicken thighs into bite-sized cubes.
- 2
Place the chicken in a bowl. Crack in the eggs, add a pinch of salt, and pour in the cornstarch.
- 3
Mix everything together with your hands until the chicken is evenly coated.
- 4
In a separate bowl, combine the ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, sesame oil, a pinch of sesame seeds, and cornstarch.
- 5
Whisk until all the ingredients are well combined and the sauce is smooth.
- 6
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a large pan or pot for deep frying.
- 7
Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- 8
Fry until the chicken is light golden brown. Remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack to drain.
- 9
For extra crispiness, fry the chicken a second time until it's a deeper golden brown and fully cooked.
- 10
In a clean pan over medium heat, pour in the prepared sesame sauce and bring it to a simmer, allowing it to thicken slightly.
- 11
Add the double-fried chicken to the pan with the sauce.
- 12
Toss the chicken in the sauce until every piece is fully coated.
- 13
Place a serving of cooked rice into a bowl.
- 14
Top the rice with the saucy sesame chicken.
- 15
Garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and chopped spring onions. Serve immediately and enjoy.
