Spaghetti Sauce
A rich and flavorful spaghetti sauce made with onions, shallots, garlic, herbs, red wine, and peeled tomatoes, simmered to perfection.
Ingredients
- yellow onion
- shallot
- olive oil
- salt
- black pepper
- garlic
- dried oregano
- red pepper flakes
- tomato paste
- red wine
- peeled tomatoes
- parmesan rind
- fresh oregano
- bay leaves
- parmesan cheese
- fresh basil
Method

Dice the yellow onion.

Mince the shallot.

Heat olive oil in a large pot or dutch oven over medium heat.

Add the diced onion and minced shallot to the pot.

Season with salt and pepper. Sauté until softened and fragrant.

Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Stir in dried oregano and red pepper flakes.

Add tomato paste and cook, stirring constantly, for about 2 minutes until it darkens in color.

Pour in the red wine to deglaze the pot, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.

Add the cans of peeled tomatoes.

Use an immersion blender to blend the sauce to your desired consistency.
